Lot Essay

A nearly identical form, attributed to Parks Boyd is in the Collection of the Brooklyn Museum and is illustrated in Laughlin, vol. III fig.690. The basis for the attribution of th Brooklyn Museum's covered sugar is based upon a marked covered water pitcher, also in their collection. The lids on the sugar bowl and water pitcher are interchangeable, indicating that they were made from the same mold.

This sugar bowl is recorded in The Winterthur Library; Decorative Arts Photographic Collection, accession number 77.1956.
