V .N. and C. H. Throop, Washn. City," accomplished in manuscript in black ink, double matted and glazed in a fine giltwood frame. In particularly fine condition, with no trace of fading. An appointment of Eugene A. Gross as a "Commissary of Subsistence of Volunteers" with rank of captain.
