A student of Leon Ernest Barrias, one of the very influential turn-of-the-century academic artists, Drivier was strongly influenced by Rodin as indicated by the modeling and facial characteristics of the present bronze. The Rudier foundry, which was one of the finest French foundries active during this period, cast many of Rodin's works.
