CASTELLI, CIRCA 1680, ATTRIBUTED TO ANTONIO LOLLI

Painted on a white ground in shades of yellow, blue, green, and manganese on a white ground with a gentleman attending his lady at her toilet, a maid fixing her hair at the right, the underside inscribed in red with Sackler number 79.6.34 (minor chips to edge, pierced for hanging, the reverse with test drill holes)--10¼in. (26cm.) diam.

Lot Essay

Sold with thermoluminescence certificate 381w1 dated May 1986 from the Research Laboratory for Archaeology and the History of Art, Oxford University, stating that the sample tested was last fired between 200 and 330 years ago (1756-1786).
