A SILVER SPICE CONTAINER, the foot and central section with 19th Century Milan hallmarks, altered piece, on highly raised base below the cylindrical stem, the container of three sections, central cylindrical container enclosed by baluster ends, topped by stylized acorn finial, the base chased with panels of C scroll enclosed stylized shell on matted ground, the stem flat chased with spiraling foliage, the central secion partly pierced, decorated with C scrolls and applied with openwork straps, the ends chased with stylized foliage, and issuing shaped shell, all joined by screw in rod--12½in. (31.7cm.) high, gross weight 9.5oz.
