Lot Essay

A founder of the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers, Victor Herbert (1859-1924) was well known as a composer of light Opera such as Babes in Toyland (1903) and Naughty Marietta (1910). He also wrote the musical scores for the Ziegfield follies in 1919, 1921 and 1924.
