Each with cartouche-shaped padded back, padded scroll arms and serpentine seat, within a moulded frame, on foliate-carved cabriole legs ending in scroll toes, upholstered in crimson and olive striped silk (4)

Two pairs of related fauteuils by Gourdin with foliate-carved crestings and similarly scrolled arms were sold Sotheby's New York, 16 May 1987, lot 87 and another pair of fauteuils by Gourdin are illustrated in F.J.B. Watson, The Wrightsman Collection, Vol. I, 1966, nos. 9A and B, pp. 14-15.
