The circular box set on a small ring foot and fitted with a domed cover, inlaid in white slip on the exterior with a wide band of lotus leaves beneath a narrower band of 'rope-curtain' and on the cover with a matching, wider band of 'rope-curtain' bordered by friezes of chrysanthemum florets, a larger chrsyanthemum medallion on the top, the interior of the box and the underside of the lid decorated with further white inlay with a stand of two iris within a foliate border- 5 1/2 in. (14 cm.) diameter, hairline cracks, gold lacquer lid repairs and other restoration
