A TURTLE-FORM PORCELAIN CUP STAND
CHOSON DYNASTY (CIRCA 1880-1910)
Moulded in the form of a turtle supporting the wide basin of the stand, the flat base of rounded rectangular shape moulded with a long turtle head and neck spout and incised on the sides with the legs of the turtle, on the flat top with the shell of the turtle and on the head with additional features of the animal, the wide oval basin for the cup moulded on each end in low relief with cranes with outstretched wings which center the recessed container for the cup, in turn moulded with a fruit spray, the four small fruits composed of four pierced holes in the vessel, the stand covered overall with a white glaze tinged with blue which ends at the foot, firing crack on neck- 2 in. (5 cm.) high, 4 1/2 in. (12.2 cm.) long, spout restored
