AN UNUSUAL SILVER-INLAID BRONZE OVIFORM VASE
18TH CENTURY
The high-shouldered, tapering body decorated with rows of variations on the shou character bordered below by a band of petal lappets and above by a band of linked ruyi heads, with pendent leaves on the waisted neck below a key-fret band on the mouth rim, the base inlaid with a large leafy peony sprig, all executed in silver inlay patinated to create contrasting brighter and duller tones set against the olive-brown patina of the bronze, minor damages--12¼in. (31cm.) high
