Lot Essay

The attribution to Salviati is traditional. Mortari dates the drawing to around 1530, and notes the influence of Andrea dal Sarto. Comparable portraits are at Chatsworth, the Victoria and Albert Museum, London and in the Uffizi, Mortari, op. cit., nos. 332, 138
