A RARE BRONZE MORTAR
NORTH ITALIAN, EARLY 16TH CENTURY

The tapering body with twin dolphin handles, decorated on both sides with a large putto head-4¾in. (12cm.) high, patina

The dolphin handles may be associated with the Venetian mortars attributed to Leopardi, {see lot ?}, but the appealing putto faces seem to be a unique manifestation.
