Lot Essay

The verticle panels of sponged decoration separating transfer prints which have been overpainted in enamel colours is typical of William Greatbatch's production.

The present teapot can confidently be dated prior to 1782, the year in which Admiral Keppel was created Viscount and First Lord of the Admiralty upon the fall of Lord North.
