Cf. The Ladies Amusement or Whole Art of Japanning Made Easy, London, 1966 reprint, plates 65-69 for engravings by Robert Hancock of similar exotic birds adapted by Sadler and Green for transfer printing on creamware. Cf. also Robin Reilly, Wedgwood, Vol. I, fig. C23 (right) for a similar jug and cover in the E.N. Stretton Collection also raised on paw feet and similarly decorated. Jugs on paw feet were based on silver shapes of the same period.
