Lot Essay

John Taylor is recorded in the High Street in Colchester between 1805 and 1839. The only specific reference is to no. 40 in 1812. He obviously had other workshops because a card table with a very close variant of this label, but at no. 27, is lot 368 in this sale (see: The Dictionary of English Furniture, Leeds, 1986, p. 877)
