Further details
America is the central figure in The Progress of Civilization by Thomas Crawford, the pediment above the Senate Wing of the U.S. Capitol. The other known Proof has the overprint upside down. America also appears on the $1,000 Confederate note dated May 6, 1861. Therefore, this image was seen simultaneously on both sides during the Civil War. This is the only uniface example known.
