Parlour chair patterns, with ribbon-twined and acanthus-enriched splats flowing into the back uprights, were published in The Chair-Maker's Guide, 1766, pl. 44, but had previously featured in The Second Book of Chairs, irca 1751, attributed to Matthias Darly
