A VICTORIAN SILVER DECANTER WAGON
MAKER'S MARK OF ROBERT GARRARD, LONDON, 1845

On conjoined circular base on articulated front axel with reeded ring handle, with two pierced foliate scroll galleries with applied everted rim, the centers engraved with a Baron's armorials, motto and supporters, also engraved at the waist with a crest and Baron's coronet, marked on base, wheels and inside galleries--15½in.(39.4cm.) long

Lot Essay

The arms are those of Crewe as borne by Hungerford, 3rd Lord Crewe, born in 1812. He was educated at Eton and Christ Church, Oxford. He died unmarried at the age of 81 of influenza at Crewe Hall, when his peerage became extinct.
