A SILVER TWO HANDLED COVERED BUTTER DISH AND LINER, maker's mark of Gorham, circa 1860, no. 390, shaped oval, on stiff leaf flat chased spreading circular foot, the shoulder foliate band centering two sides applied Classical profile medallion, with applied greek key rim, two female mask applied angular handles with bifurcated join, pierced liner, the domed cover monogrammed twice and topped by fully modelled fairy finial--the cover unmarked--6¾in. (17.1cm.) high, 23oz.
