A SILVER COMPOTE, maker's mark of Gorham, no. 270, circa 1865, the shallow circular bowl on slightly raised circular base, above issuing cube twice applied with medallion (one male, one female) below tapering cylindrical stem, the sharply tapering short sides twice applied with jutting join issuing the conforming medallion applied handle, with applied die rolled rim--6¾in. (17.1cm.) high, 25.5oz.
