A GEORGE III SILVER SWEETMEAT BASKET, London, 1763, maker's mark apparently that of Edward Aldridge (maker's mark worn), oval, on four part openwork rocaille scroll supports, with apron between, the center engraved with crest, the sides chased with swirled flutes enclosing chased and engraved floral festoon, all on pierced quatrefoil ground, the everted rim applied with foliate scrolls and shell enclosed by beaded band, with decorated openwork swing handle--6½in. (16.5cm.) long, 7.5oz.
