A FLEMISH BAROQUE GILT-METAL MOUNTED IVORY-INLAID EBONY AND TORTOISHESHELL CABINET-ON-STAND
THE CABINET LATE 17TH CENTURY

The cabinet with rectangular ripple-mounted cornice above a pair of central cupboard doors surrounded by sixteen panel drawers, the doors mounted with putti terms above voluted pilasters and enclosing a mirrored architectural interior fitted with sham drawers and surrounded by twelve short drawers, the sides inlaid with geometric stringing, the later stand with panelled frieze moulded with scrolling foliate arabesques, on ring-turned baluster legs joined by a stretcher ending in bun feet, one interior drawer with a paper label inscribed 'Wadsworth Atheneum, Kneeland Loan 29211' and stencilled accession number 38.380 (gilding restored)-67in. (171.5cm.) high, 57½in. (146cm.) wide, 19in. (48.5cm.) deep
