The first published work by Thomas Clarkson and possibly the most important work in the history of the anti-slavery movement, this English translation of his prize essay, helped to unite and concentrate the efforts of the abolitionists. It marked the beginning of the long parliamentary struggle for the abolition of the slave trade.
