Accompanying the lot is a copy of a letter from Rolf Peterson, Steichen's printer, stating that he examined the print and believed it to be dated 1958 or 1959. A stamp on the verso indicates the print is a guide print and not to be separated from the copy negative. The pencil notations indicate that the print was exhibited and used for a catalogue illustration.
