Lot Essay

The design for this ebony and ormolu-enriched writing table, with its golden-landscape lacquer panels, derives from furniture retailed in the 1780s by the marchand-mercier Dominique Daguerre and manufactured by Adam Weisweiler, who was elected a maître-ébéniste in 1778.
