Engraved
The arms are those of Parker, as borne by John Parker (c. 1735-1788), son of John Parker of North Molton and Boringdon, Devon, who succeeded his father in 1768. He was M.P. for Bodmin 1761-1762 and for Devon from 1762 until 1784, in which year he was created Baron Boringdon. Having been a Whig throughout his parliamentary career, after 1783 he was a staunch supporter of Pitt. He married twice, first to Frances, daughter of Josiah Hort, Archbishop of Tuam in 1764. She died however shortly after their marriage and in 1769 he married Theresa, daughter of Thomas, Lord Grantham. She died in 1775, which would explain the lack of any impalement on the present arms.

The piercing on the mazarine is similar to that found on the mazarine in Lamerie's Thanet dinner service, sold by Sotheby's London,
Mazarines are comparatively rare in Lamerie's work; another example of 1744 was sold together with a pair of plain meat dishes by Sotheby's, London, April 24, 1969, lot 242.
