Of campana form, on spreading circular foot with a gadrooned molding, the lower body chased with flutes, the curving spout formed of acanthus leaves and with a bearded mask drop, the carved bone snake-form handle issuing from snake-tail upper joins and with a bearded mask drop, the gadrooned rim with shells at intervals, the domed cover chased with fluting and with a bone finial, marked on side and cover--10 5/8 in. (27 cm.) high

Lot Essay

The arms are those of Coote. Sir Charles Henry Coote, 9th Bt., born in 1794, ordered considerable plated from the leading Regency silversmiths for his seat at Ballyfin, which he re-built in the classical taste.
