On circular dished base with molded rim rising to a double baluster stem supporting a removable flaring circular oil font with a domed circular cover and curved wick holder, the base, font and cover engraved with a coat of arms within the Order of the Thistle and below an Earl's coronet, marked under base, on font, and on cover--11 1/2 in. (29.2 cm.) high

The arms are those of Tollemache, as borne by Lionel, 5th Earl of Dysart, K.T. (1707-1770), who married in 1729 Lady Grace Carteret, eldest daughter of John, 1st Earl of Granville
