A GILTMETAL-MOUNTED MINTONS PURPLE-GROUND TAPERING OVIFORM VASE with two fixed white and gilt scroll handles, painted with a bird perched on a branch overlooking a grassy meadow, the reverse similarly painted with two birds in a landscape vignette, each enclosed within a gilt oval cartouche edged with scrolls and diaper-pattern, the shoulder richly gilt with scrolls and garlands extending to the lower body, below a waisted neck and on a spreading stem, mounted on a shaped square giltmetal foot (small chip to one handle, slight scratch to glaze at neck), circa 1880
