Lot Essay

One of a small group of subjects in which Picasso used this process. The linocuts were printed in cream ink and then brushed over with encre de Chine. The prints were then rinsed under water. The areas printed in cream washed clean while the unprinted areas absorbed the encre de Chine and remained black.
