Lot Essay

Both the small size and design of this example is quite rare. For larger versions (8½in. diam.) see Christie's, New York, December 3, 1992, lot 341, and the dish from the Jarras Collection, Part II, Christie's Swire, Hong Kong, October 8, 1990, lot 360, formerly in the Riesco Collection. A similarly enameled bowl of this rare pattern is illustrated by John Ayers, The Baur Collection, vol. 4, no. A575
