Lot Essay

The example of similar form but with a narrower neck is illustrated by Tamara Préaud and Antoine d'Albis, La Porcelaine de Vincennes, p. 141, no. 85. The inventory for October 1752 lists 'trois marmites miniatures mauvaises' at 10 livres each and two others with flowers. See Tamara Preúd and Antoine d'Albis, ibid., p. 139, no. 80 for a night-light perhaps painted by the same hand; see also the example sold in these Rooms on 3 July 1978, lot 157
