FOUR SYRIAN HEMATITE CYLINDER SEALS
CIRCA 1850-1650 B.C.

One engraved with two bearded figures wearing founded caps, fringed and tassled mantles, and kilts, both facing a seminude goddess and a laden table between them, a fish in the field, star disc and crescent in the sky, with a griffin above guilloche above a lion as the terminal, damaged, 28 x 14 mm, one engraved with a figure in a round cap with upturned brim, fringed mantle and a kilt, with a mace at his waist, is greeted by a figure similarly clad to his right, with a third figure holding a palm frond and wearing a long robe to the far right, an antelope above a griffin in the field, 13 x 7 mm, one engraved with two bearded figures wearing rounded caps with upturned brims facing each other, a goddess between them, a bird in the sky, a lion as the terminal, lower section missing, 9 x 11 mm, and one engraved a figure wearing a tall oval headdress,a mantle with rolled borders and a kilt, holding a curved staff, facing a bearded figure wearing a round cap with upturned brim and a long robe, a female figure behind him wearing a hoodlike head covering, a vessel, ankh, and hawk in the field, a star, star disc and crescent in the sky, with three marching men facing left, a bearded figure in a long robe and round cap with upturned brim with a nude goddess before him and guilloche above as the terminal, 23 x 12 mm (4)
