EDO PERIOD (19TH CENTURY), SIGNED TOSHIHIDE AND SEALED TOKEI
The five case inro fashioned in the form of a sake jar and decorated in gold and red takamaki-e with three long-haired shojo set against a kinji ground below a collar of lustrous gold gyobu, the top case cover formed as the lid of the sake jar decorated on the top in togidashi with foaming waves and around the rim with a gold and aogai diaper band, the interior cases nashiji and red lacquer, three of which fitted with extra removable inner cases of red, black or nashiji lacquer, fitted with a bead ojime and ivory netsuke modelled as a seated dog- 3 3/8 in. (8.4 cm.) high, slight buckling below surface bottom case, minute gyobu flake losses
