A RARE SILVER OPENFACE FATTON INKING CHRONOGRAPH

The gilt half plate keyless movement with cylinder escapement and uncompensated balance, hack button in band at 10 c'clock, the inking released by button in crown, the signed white enamel dial with 60 second ring enclosing minute register within a plain silver case, numbered on movement and case, 1880s--56.5mm diam.
This chronograph is intended to be an interval timer of short duration and does not require a sophisticated escapement or temperture compensation. The mechanism is based on F. L. Fatton's invention employed by A. L. Breguet. See Breguet by George Daniels, pp. 72-73 and 346.
