This model has been commonly associated with the workshop of Charles Cressent; included in the sale catalog of Cressent's property sold at auction in Paris from 15 December 1756 to 15 February 1757 there appears under catalog nos. 171-172 a description of a pair of wall lights which could easily be the same model as the pair in the present sale..
'dans la chambre à coucher, un feu et une paire de bras à deux branches et un perroquet de bronze, dorés et d'or moulu'
