Each on stepped circular base with a band of gadrooning, rising to a tapering cylindrical part-fluted stem below a baluster socket chased with flutes and darts, supporting removable reeded scroll branches with central urn-form standard with removable flame finial, with baluster sockets and circular drip-pans with gadrooned borders, the base engraved with a coat-of-arms below a Baron's armorials, marked on bases--overall height 31¾in. (81.5cm.) (2)

Lot Essay

The arms are those of Vanneck impaling Thompson, as borne by Sir Joshua Vanneck, baronet, 1st Baron Huntingfield of Heveningham Hall, Suffolk. He was born in 1745, married Maria Thompson in 1777, and was created Baron in 1796. His house, Heveningham Hall, is well known for its interiors by James Wyatt and park by Capability Brown. Lord Huntingfield died in 1816.
