[MELANCHTHON, Philipp (1497-1560)] -- AUGSBURG CONFESSION. To whiche is added the Apologie of Melancthon who defendeth with reasons invincible the aforesayde confessyon translated by Rycharde Taverner at the cmaundement of Lorde Thomas Cromwell. Contemporary panelled calf, tooled in blind [roll similar to Oldham RP.a.4.], spine with 4 raised bands, (upper cover detached; spine repaired and very rubbed). Provenance: Anthony Noone (contemporary signature on verso of last leaf), who has also added some marginal annotations; Mount Stuart bookplate.
Second edition. The Confession on ff.5-31 follows Taverner's preface, and Melanchthon's Apology for the Augsburg confession takes up the rest of the volume. STC 909.
