LONDON, 1895, MAKER'S MARK OF JAMES GARRARD
In the style of Paul de Lamerie, of vase-shaped form, on spreading circular foot applied with elaborate acanthus scrolls and rocaille on a matted ground above a scroll and flowerhead rim, the lower body applied with alternating vertical floral and ribbon swags and grapes bedecking large grotesque bearded masks on a matted ground, below a reeded mid-rib, with leaf-clad beaded multi-scroll side handles applied with overlapping rocaille on a matted ground, the high domed cover applied with similar foliate decoration above a reeded rim with acanthus scrolls and rocaille at intervals and a chased band of circles, surmounted by a bud finial supported by alternating acanthus- clad rocaille and ram's heads, marked on body and cover--187 3/4in.
