MAKER'S MARK OF JOSEPH & JOHN ANGELL, LONDON, 1836

On circular pedestal base on three splayed foliate supports, surmounted by a panther and two scantily clad putti holding aloft an openwork basket applied with foliage and flanked by three foliate scroll bifurcated branches each supporting two foliate drip-pans and everted bud-form sockets, the base engraved with coat-of-arms within foliate scroll mantling and an inscription, fully marked--18in.(45.6cm.) high

The inscription resads: Presented to Weston Yonge Esq of Charnes Hall in the County of Stafford by the Conservatives of the Eccleshall District and Neighborhood in token of gratitude for his able and successful exertions in that cause by which the Church, Monarchy, and Ancient Institutions of the country are defended.

The arms are those of Yonge.
