Lot Essay

Iwar Wenfeld Buch (1749-1811) was the son of the Danish goldsmith Didrich Buch. By 1776 he is recorded as gold and silver master in the workshop of the St. Petersburg Foreign Guild, where he had six apprentices and executed considerable commissions for the Tzar.
