AN EGYPTIAN FAIENCE TWO HANDLED VASE WITH LID
ROMAN PERIOD, CIRCA 1ST-2ND CENTURY A.D.
The shoulder and body with applied decoration in the form of a wreath and alternating lotiform motifs, with an offset foot and cylindrical neck flaring and merging into a flat rim, with two strap handles and a knobbed lid indented with radiating spokes and a molded band of lotus petals on its rim, all molded areas and the rim turquoise-glazed which contrasts with the dark purple-blue ground, the handles and rim restored, the lid chipped, 7 5/16in. (18.6cm) high
