A SASSANIAN SILVER BOWL
CIRCA 5TH-7TH CENTURY A.D.

The hammered shallow bowl with a gilt ring enclosing a gilt figure of a peahen in profile to the right, embellished with chased details, the exterior with a horizontal groove below the rim, the bowl divided into three zones by sets of three arching flutes and three straight flutes which dissolve towards the base, 5 5/8in. (14.3cm.) diam.
