(19 1/4 x 13 3/4 in.), ON FINE PARCHMENT, with a blue paper seal of the United States at left, bold heading at top "The President of the United States of America," beneath which an American Eagle and the "E Pluribus Unum" motto fly above billowing clouds, at bottom a large vignette of crosses, flags, cannons and other military paraphernalia, accomplished in manuscript, and in fine condition. President Lincoln and Secretary Stanton appoint A.J. Comfort Assisstant Surgeon of Volunteers. [With] an identical appointment for Comfort (to rank of Brevet Captain), bearing stamped signature of Andrew Johnson, 30 October 1865. (2)
