Lot Essay

James Mundy has kindly confirmed the attribution, on the basis of a photograph, and suggests a date of the 1570s. He proposes that this is an unexecuted study for the allegorical figures in the second tier of the ceiling of the Duomo, Florence. He will publish this drawing in his forthcoming catalogue raisonné
