Provenance
David Paul Brown (1795-1872), lawyer, orator, and dramatist of Philadelphia. Brown wrote the play Sartorius in 1830 for Junius Brutus Booth, of the famed Booth family of actors. Brown was also an acclaimed criminal lawyer (Sydney George Fisher, A Philadelphia Prospective Diary, Philadelphia: Historical Society of Pennsylvania, 1967).
