(31 1/2 in.) oval bore rifled barrel sighted to 1000 yards with gold line, bayonet boss, marked 'Lancaster's Patent', scroll engraved breech tang, hammer, lock and trigger guard, steel ramrod, sling swivels, nipple protector on chain, chequered fore-end and wrist, silver escutcheon engraved 'From N.S.W RA to HC Danger (sic) 1863'

Lot Essay

This target rifle was presented by the New South Wales Rifle Association to Henry Cary Dangar M.L.A in 1863.
H.C. Dangar was one of seven children to Henry and Grace Dangar. Henry Dangar (1796-1861) was a successful surveyor and pastoralist who settled in the Upper Hunter region of New South Wales.
