Patrick Berko has confirmed the authenticity of this work on the basis of a photograph.

Verboeckhoven is known to have collaborated with a number of artists such as Louis Verwee and Johann Bernard Klombeck. Mr Berko feels that, whilst the figures are by Verboeckhoven, the landscape is by a different hand.
