LANCASTER, No. 12489, treble-grip action-body, automatic safe, best foliate-scroll engraving enclosing gold-inlaid and engraved game birds and wildfowl, the maker's name and serial number gold-inlaid, with full hardening-colour and blueing, highly-figured stock with recoil-pad, lever-latch forend, the barrels with concave rib and scroll-engraved breech-ends
Weight 13lb. 6oz., 14½in. pull, 32in. barrels, both approx. ¼ choke, 3¼in. chambers, nitro proof

The makers have kindly confirmed that the gun was completed circa 1906 for an Indian Maharaja. In an extensive entry, particular note is paid to the nature of the gun's decoration which comprizes best engraving of birds and wildfowl with gold-inlays. Double 8-bore guns are not common; examples with extensive original de-luxe decoration are particularly rare
