AN IRON THUMB-SCREW, W-shaped with brass ball terminals and some punched decoration, the thumb-plates compressed by a lockable wing-nut and deep moulded washer working on the central thread; two spurs, of iron painted gold, almost forming a pair, the slender downcurved heel-bands with figure-eight terminals, short upturned necks with small five-pointed rowels, and large original buckles and hooks; and a combined wheel-lock spanner and turnscrew, of iron, the faceted stem with central moulding, and pierced with a hole at the base, all 17th Century, probably German
